North-West Region
Agriculture
Family farming, market gardening and livestock across highland and lowland zones.
Agriculture is central to the region's economy and daily life. Altitude and rainfall create different farming zones, from highland areas producing coffee, tea, potatoes and vegetables to lower zones supporting palm products and warm-climate crops.
Common products include maize, beans, groundnuts, cassava, cocoyams, plantains, rice, honey, fruits and vegetables. Livestock such as cattle, goats and poultry are widely raised.
See our Food & Agriculture page for a fuller guide to regional foods and farming.
